50 Cent, "We Up" Rapper Charged With Domestic Violence, Could Face Five-Year Sentence

Rap star 50 Cent has been charged with domestic violence after the mother of one of children alleged he kicked her and destroyed property in her Toluca Lake, Ca. home during an argument last month.

According to TMZ, the platinum rapper’s violent outburst caused $7,100 in damages and included breaking down a door, several chandeliers, a TV and a lamp. He also allegedly ransacked a closet and damaged other furniture.

When police arrived they found the woman locked in a closet, where she told them she fled to get away from the rapper. 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, had already left the scene.

In all, the 37-year-old rapper has been hit with five charges, including four counts of misdemeanor vandalism and misdemeanor domestic violence. If convicted on all counts, 50 could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines. He is due to be arraigned on July 22.

TMZ said it reached out to 50’s camp for comment but got no response. On the night in question, the website said it shot footage of him and his crew at famed Beverly Hills eatery Mr. Chow and it was apparent he was not in a festive mood.

50 Cent has also starred in several movies including the semi-autobiographical Get Rich or Die Tryin, Brave and Righteous Kill.
