The Denver Broncos have come up just shy of their goal of winning the Super Bowl in each of the last three seasons, but they look like they should have another chance at it in 2015. The team does have a new head coach and new offensive and defensive coordinators, but they still have plenty of talent, and future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning will still be under center for the team.

Broncos Planning To Bench Peyton Manning?

But Manning may also be wielding more power than fans realize. New head coach Gary Kubiak has said that he wants to collaborate with Manning about the playbook, but his latest comments may sound more like he is just caving to a superstar, according to ESPN.

Kubiak has already said that he wants to run an offense that fits Manning's strengths, which is already a bit of a departure for him, as previous Kubiak offenses have featured a heavy reliance on the running game. The new coach has also said that he will be calling the plays from the sideline, although Manning will have the freedom to change them at the line of scrimmage.

"I think you prepare to help him call that game throughout the course of the week," Kubiak said. "A lot of people put emphasis on him calling plays at the line, but you've also prepared to do that throughout the course of the week, so you, as a coach, 'Here's what I think is best in that situation.' In a lot of ways you're still working together. You're just going about it a different way."

Manning is arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, and he is undoubtedly a savant when it comes to football knowledge. However, the Broncos have leaned heavily on what Manning wanted to do for the past three years, and while they have featured dominant offenses each season, it still has yet to get them where they want.

Obviously Manning knows what he is doing, but Kubiak may be setting himself up for failure if he allows Manning to mold the offense as he sees fit. If other players start believing that it is Manning, not Kubiak, calling all of the shots, then they may tune the head coach out, and that could derail the 2015 season well before playoff time.
