Johnny Manziel needs a bounce-back second season to salvage his NFL career.

The former Heisman Trophy winner entered the league to much hype and fanfare, but struggled mightily in his only two starts, tossing two interceptions while completing less than 50% of his passes.

Manziel drew criticism for his off-field antics. He was involved in a late night brawl and missed a mandatory practice because he was out late partying the night before. Teammates questioned his preparation and there were some reports that he didn't have the playbook memorized.

Manziel entered rehab at the season's end as a demonstration that he was taking his career more seriously moving forward. And then last week he broke up with long-time girlfriend Colleen Crowley.

Colleen Crowley Confirms Break-Up With Manziel Over Instagram

Manziel and Crowley looked like a happy couple, but she was certainly as much of a wild child as Johnny was. She would frequently make the trip from Fort Worth (where she attended TCU undergrad) to Cleveland during the season, and the two would post Instagram photographs of themselves partying it up into the late hours.

Perhaps ending his relationship with Crowley, coupled with a stint in rehab, will be a net positive for Manziel. Free of distractions, he might be able to focus more effectively on football. Because if his sophomore season goes as poorly as his first, no one can say Johnny Football didn't have enough opportunities to succeed.
