Dennis Rodman, former NBA star and champion known for his dyed hair, bizarre off-court behavior, and unmatched rebounding, is claiming he should be under consideration for a Nobel Peace Prize due to his diplomatic efforts with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Rodman said he is the No. 5 on the list of "the 10 most identifiable people on the planet." Rodman ranked only God, Jesus, Muhammad Ali and Barack Obama ahead of himself.
He talked a lot about his visits to North Korea's Supreme Leader. "Before I landed in Pyongyang, I didn't know Kim Jong-un from Lil' Kim," Rodman said. "I didn't know what country he ruled or what went on in the country he ruled."
Kim Jong-un is said to be an avid lover of basketball, however, and admirer of Rodman. Rodman claims the two are now close friends, despite Jong-un's multiple threats of warfare against the United States. The ex-Bad Boy believes he can serve as a key ambassador for American in dealing with North Korea.
He plans to visit in August, saying, "I'm just [going to] chill, play some basketball and maybe go on vacation with Kim and his family. My mission is to break the ice between hostile countries. Why it's been left to me to smooth things over, I don't know. Dennis Rodman, of all people."
After that came Rodman's priceless plea for Nobel consideration. "Keeping us safe is really not my job; it's the black guy's [President Obama's] job. But I'll tell you this: If I don't finish in the top three for the next Nobel Peace Prize, something's seriously wrong."
His old job, grabbing rebounds, was one he did exceptionally well. He averaged 13.1 rebounds per game in his career, during which he suited up for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks.
