There's surely thousands (if not millions) of New Yorkers who count themselves fans of UFC superstar Ronda Rousey.

However, if these fans were ever hoping to see 'Rowdy' Ronda in the flesh at Madison Square Garden, the Barclays Center, or Syracuse's Carrier Dome, so far they would have been out of luck.

That's because New York is the final state out of our union's 50 that still imposes a ban on professional MMA fighting within its borders. Given the fact that New York is simultaneously a sports, media, and financial center of the country, this type of legislation seems absurd.

Rousey agrees with that assessment, which is why she traveled to the capital city of Albany this week to lobby in person to Governor Andrew Cuomo and other state representatives to lift the ban.

Rousey also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to plead her case. Video of that appearance is available over at MMA Fighting.
