The Dallas Cowboys had to know that signing defensive end Greg Hardy to a one-year, multi-million dollar deal was going to be met with serious criticism.

Twitter Is Not Happy The Cowboys Signed An Alleged Woman Beater

Ex-NFL players, public servants, and random john and jane does of Twitter are up in arms with "America's Team" bringing aboard a player who allegedly beat his girlfriend, threw her onto a pile of guns, and then paid her off to avoid jail time.

However, one notable ex-Cowboy is publicly endorsing the signing.

Hall-of-Famer-to-be Charles Haley, who won five Super Bowls with the 'boys back in the 1990s, said he acknowledges the reprehensible thing Hardy supposedly did, but told The Dallas Morning News that every player deserves a second chance.

Jerry Jones, Cowboys Teammates Support Greg Hardy Signing

“He wants to show everybody what he has and what he can do," Haley said. "He wants to be judged by what he does on the field. But the only way you can be judged by the things you do on the field is you can’t be doing dumb (expletive) off the field.”

“I can’t wait to meet him," Haley continued. "And I can’t wait to see him play. I hope and pray the Cowboys make the next step in this journey for a Super Bowl. Sometimes bad boys have to come in here and kick some tail.”

It's admirable for Haley to show empathy, but Hardy's alleged actions were so heinous. The first and only step for Hardy at this point is to prove he can be a better man in 2015 onward.
