Ndamukong Suh will take the field for a team other than the Detroit Lions for the first time in his professional career this fall. Suh signed a megadeal with the Miami Dolphins in free agency, and the team hopes that he will be the anchor of their defense.

Broncos To Bench Peyton Manning During Season?

For as great of a player as Suh is - and he is unquestionably a great player - the conversation around him does not always focus on his abilities. Instead, the conversation sometimes turns toward his decision making or his after-the-play antics. Suh has earned a reputation as one of the dirtiest players in the league, and that is also something that the Dolphins will have to deal with for the next several seasons.

However, head coach Joe Philbin does not believe that it will be an issue, according to MLive.com. He thinks that stepping on players, possibly intentional groin kicks, and generally overaggressive play after the whistle are all things that Suh will leave in Detroit.

Washington GM Didn't Draft RG3, And He Has No Problem Moving On

"I think some of those incidents occurred a long time ago, and obviously, players learn from situations," Philbin said. "What we're really focused on is his contributions and his performance and his leadership as a Miami Dolphin. I think he's at a little different stage of his career now."

Suh has turned it down in recent years, going nearly two full seasons without incident prior to the stepping on Aaron Rodgers episode during Week 17 of the 2014 season. Of course, that incident nearly caused him to miss Detroit's playoff game against Dallas.

Still, Philbin was not even concerned about that, saying, "I think I'm comfortable right now, and I'm looking forward to working with him."

If the Dolphins are right, then they can just enjoy employing one of the most disruptive defensive players in the game today.
