The Dallas Cowboys are still in the process of figuring out what they are going to do about their running back situation for the upcoming season. The team lost DeMarco Murray to the Philadelphia Eagles after he lead the league in rushing yards last year. The Cowboys did sign Darren McFadden, but the team does not view the injury-prone former Raider as a feature back.

The team did make an offer to Murray, although he got far more from the Eagles, which is why he ultimately left. Still, his former coaches and teammates have spoken highly of him since his departure, and many of them have indicated that they would have preferred that he stayed in Dallas.

According to The Dallas Morning News, you can count Jason Garrett among those that wanted Murray to stick around. "We wanted him to be a Cowboy not just for this coming year but for many years to come," said Garrett. "But there is a business aspect. He had to do what he felt was right for him and his family, and we had to do what was right for organization."

"Unfortunately that didn't work out," he added. "Now we have to move on and make the next best decision for our team.''

Garrett was also asked about replacing the gritty, between the tackles running that Murray thrived on last year. "Absolutely,'' he said. "It has to be replaced. It was a good style of football for us to play. We will try to continue to do that.''

And as for Murray joining the hated, division rival Eagles?

"We will play against him a couple of times of year,'' Garrett said. "That will make it interesting. Again the level of respect we have for him is really, really high.''
