Aaron Hernandez, the ex-New England Patriots star tight end who stands accused of orchestrating the murder of Odin Lloyd, and pulling the trigger in his shooting death, will be back in court again today at 9:00 a.m. Follow Day 33 of the court proceedings free here.

The absence of Hernandez’s fiancée Shayanna Jenkins is becoming more glaring as the trial wears on, largely because of the important role she’s believed to have played in covering up for those responsible for Lloyd’s death. Assistant district attorney Patrick Bomberg summed up Jenkins’ involvement by writing the following.

“Shayanna Jenkins … assisted the defendant in disposing of evidence after the murder, lied to the police and grand jury on behalf of the defendant, and met with the defendant’s murderous co-venturers to provide them with support and assistance.”

Jenkins is already facing perjury charges for allegedly lying under oath before the trial started, but she’s been granted immunity now. This does not mean she is off the hook for the perjury charges, but it does mean if she refuses to testify during the trial she may be held in contempt. Per The Boston Herald, Jenkins is expected to be called to the stand before the case is closed.

Yesterday at trial, the subject matter shifted to five weapons charges Hernandez is also facing. The testimony involved $15,000 being moved from one of Hernandez’s bank accounts, and into the account of one Oscar “Pappoo” Hernandez’s parents (no relation). Oscar Hernandez has since pleaded guilty to gun charges; with relation to Aaron Hernandez he is accused of using the $15,000 to purchase two .22-caliber Jimenez pistols and a semi-automatic 7.62-caliber rifle and bring them to Massachusetts.
