Ever since John Elway came on board and started making decisions, the Denver Broncos have always had a plan in mind. Things have gone well so far under Elway, despite the team falling short of a Super Bowl title so far.

Philip Rivers To Replace Peyton Manning In Denver?

But Elway is once again working to make the Broncos a contender. Still, many have questioned his decision to sit out free agency, as star quarterback Peyton Manning surely will not play for many more years. Elway has probably heard the criticism, and he will not be deterred by it. In fact, Denver's recent inactivity may be part of a long-term plan for the team, according to Fan Sided.

Elway knows that Manning only has a few years left. However, if he builds a team that is designed to go for it all, then that team could crash and burn once Manning retires. By skipping free agency, Elway will be able to replenish through the draft and have cap space in the coming seasons.

Dallas Planning To Use Draft To Gain Leverage In Dez Bryant Negotiations?

While the team may be a little worse this season, the influx of young talent instead of pricey veterans will prevent the team from being a dumpster fire if Manning retires at the end of the season. And if Manning wants to play another two or three years, then young, inexpensive talent will help keep Denver's Super Bowl window open until Manning decides that he is done playing.

The team brought on Gary Kubiak as head coach, and although he and Manning are still hashing out how their opposing offensive ideologies will mesh together, the team will still have more than enough talent to contend for a title.

The team's free agency discipline, however, shows that they are aware that this may be Manning's last season, and they are unwilling to mortgage the future for one final Super Bowl run.
