With all due respect to Sam Bradford or Nick Foles, Frank Gore said Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was the reason he chose to sign with the Colts.

But did he also take a dig at former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick?

49ers addition of Reggie Bush finally a positive move for Colin Kaepernick

NFL.com reported that Gore talked with ESPN about his decision to sign with Indianapolis at the 11th hour after he seemed to be headed to the Philadelphia Eagles.

He said he was minutes away from signing with the Eagles but had his agent check with the Colts to find out whether they would match or surpass Philly's offer.

"When I knew I wasn't going back to the 49ers, my first option was I wanted to be with a great quarterback," Gore said, according to NFL.com. "I feel that you have to have a great quarterback to have a chance. Luck is a young quarterback and he does everything. He can throw. He can run. He's physical. He's a leader.

"I don't know how many years I've got left, two, three. But I want to have the opportunities to get back and chase that trophy I really want before I leave."

Gore, however, made a slight mistake talking about his intentions.

When he talked about wanting to be with a "great quarterback," he seemed to have forgotten all about Kaepernick, who took Gore and their team to the 2012 Super Bowl. Had he said that he wanted to be with "another" great quarterback, then NFL fans would've known that he was paying tribute to his pal Kaepernick at the season-finale.

Gore, however, also knew how cohesive (or not cohesive) the 49ers locker room was before he left, and just really wanted to go somewhere he could feel compete for a championship.
