Alex Rodriguez, Yankees Feud Update: Team Calls Star's Behavior "Bizarre"

Alex Rodriguez’s ongoing war of words with the New York Yankees' front office continues to simmer after the Bergen Record quoted team officials as branding the third baseman’s recent behavior as “bizarre.”

All the contentiousness began this week when Rodriguez took to Twitter to pronounce himself medically cleared and ready to resume playing in rehab game. That came as news to general manager Brian Cashman, who later told media members “when the Yankees want to announce something we will. Alex should just shut the f--- up.”

The next day, the New York Daily News reported some are speculating Rodriguez’s words could all be part of a larger plot to soon announce his retirement in hopes of collecting on a massive insurance payout and avoiding what’s almost certain to be a lengthy suspension doled out by Major League Baseball officials as part of the league’s ongoing steroids scandal in which he’s been implicated.

In the wake of that development, The Record also reported “club officials have nothing but contempt for A-Rod,” and consider his alleged involvement to be a black-eye for the entire franchise.

During a 30-minute conference call with Cashman and team President Randy Levine on Tuesday, The Record also reported Rodriguez had yet again changed his story.  “I don’t know when I’m coming back,” the newspaper said he told management.  “It could be in July, it could be in August. It might not be this year.”
