DeMarco Murray is no longer a member of the Dallas Cowboys, but he is not done making his presence felt in the city that was his first home as an NFL player. Last week, Murray left the team as a free agent and signed a huge deal with the division rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Murray maintained throughout the free agency process that he wanted to return to the Cowboys, even right up to the last minute. While he was on his way to Philadelphia to sign his new contract, he still said that he would listen to any last-minute offers Dallas wanted to throw his way. In the end, it was not to be, but Murray still wanted everyone to know how much the team and city meant to him.

Murray purchased the above billboard and placed it downtown for as many fans to see as possible. He knows that he is the enemy now (and he has already been booed at a UFC fight in Dallas), but he apparently does not hold it against the fans.

Dallas Planning To Draft A Running Back Instead Of Trading For AP?

Indeed, he may even be playing the long game here. Although he signed a five-year deal with Philadelphia, Murray could easily wind up as a cap casualty in two or three years if the Eagles need the space for other players.

If that were the case, Murray could again find himself navigating the waters of free agency, and perhaps this billboard is a subtle way of planting the seed in the heads of fans and team personnel that Murray would be open to returning to the Cowboys one day.

It is not uncommon for players to try and finish their careers with the team that they started with, so perhaps Murray wants to make sure that he has that option one day.
