Bernard Pierce can see into the future; now if he can just do something about that extra weight, or Ray Rice. ...

The Baltimore Sun reported that the Baltimore Ravens cut the former star running back out of Temple after he was arrested early Wednesday morning on a driving-under-the-influence charge.

NFL denies lying about Ray Rice's comments he made to them in June about the incident with his fiancée

Pierce failed a field sobriety test when he was pulled over near the Baltimore beltway just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, ESPN reported.

His speech was slurred, according to a police report, and he told his arresting officer that he weighed 530 pounds - twice - when asked how much he weighed.

The Baltimore Ravens settle out of court with release running back Ray Rice by giving him hush money?

Still, Pierce knew exactly what was going to happen to him, once news of his arrest got back to his employer.

"Do you know what happened the last time a Ravens player got a DUI?" Pierce asked the arresting officer, according to charging documents, as reported by the Sun. "I'm getting cut tomorrow, not like you care."

The Sun added that Pierce is the third Raven to be released in the offseason, joining nose tackle Terrence Cody (felony animal cruelty and misdemeanor drug charges) and cornerback Victor Hampton (DUI).

The arrest was the third in the offseason for the Ravens as a franchise, and eighth arrest in the last 13 months. Pierce had asked whether his arrest "could be kept off the books.

Among them was the Ray Rice-Janay Palmer ordeal that changed the way the team - and the NFL would look at domestic violence incidents.

"I think things come in waves, and we certainly took a crash here last year," Ravens owner Steven Bisciotti said during a state-of-the-team news conference in late February. "I think that we are a team and an organization that cares, obviously, about our reputation, and when it takes a hit, then you examine what you do. But in order to take a hit to your reputation, you have to have a pretty good reputation to start with, and we did. So now it's about proving that it was an aberration, and we believe that to be the case.

"Are we a little more aware? Yes, I think specifically if you go back to the Ray Rice thing, we certainly are more aware. We've been able to tap resources in the community that have furthered our knowledge, our sensitivity and our responsibility."

Pierce already had fallen out of favor with the Ravens on the field. After the Ravens cut Rice, Pierce lost the starting job to Justin Forsett and wound up with 366 rushing yards and two touchdowns, averaging 3.9 yards per carry.
