In their never-ending search to find a franchise quarterback, the Cleveland Browns tried to get in on the Sam Bradford sweepstakes.

And once again, their attempts were fruitless.

NFL.com is reporting that the Browns offered their first-round draft pick for Bradford. Its source did not specify whether that offer was made to the St. Louis Rams or Philadelphia Eagles.

The Rams traded their oft-injured former No. 1 draft pick to the Eagles for Nick Foles and a second-round draft pick. Rams coach Jeff Fisher told profootballtalk.nbcsports.com that one team offered a late first-round draft pick for Bradford.

In that scenario, however, St. Louis still didn't have a quarterback, and a late first-round pick wasn't going to get them into position for Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly, meanwhile, said a team had offered a first-round pick for Bradford last week, according to another NFL.com report.

The Browns own the No. 12 and No. 19 picks in the 2015 NFL Draft, so it's conceivable they could've been that unidentified team in both scenarios.

Cleveland recently signed free-agent quarterback Josh McCown as NFL.com speculates that their first-round offer indicates they don't believe Johnny Manziel will be a factor in 2015 as he continues his stint in rehab.

At least, with two first-rounders in the draft, the Browns are in a position to give themselves a shot to move up to get Winston or Mariota.

What it could mean for Manziel is that even if he is able to get his personal life in order, any success he may have in the NFL won't be in Cleveland.
