Tiger Woods is dismissing criticisms by Nick Faldo about the mental state of his game as just chatter.

“I don’t know I’ve won four times,” Woods told Yahoo! Sports in response to Faldo’s critique that “he’s woken up and realized this is a hard sport and he's a mere mortal.” Faldo later added “he’s not in a good mental place. It was so easy for him before, he made it look so easy, when it is such a hard sport. But whatever he's been through, with all his personal problems, has made an impact on his mind - and so much of this sport is all in the mind. Nerve is the bottom line."

Over his last two outings, Woods tied for 65th at the Memorial and 32nd at the U.S. Open, where he also suffered a strain right elbow that forced him out of the At& T National. He still is atop the FedEx Cup rankings and has double the PGA Tour wins of any other player this year, but apparently that still isn’t enough to impress Faldo.

When asked by Yahoo! if he felt he is now struggling, Woods simply answered “No,” and moved on.

Overall, Woods has won seven times over the last 15 months, yet the comparisons to his dominance of 2001 and the time when he won four straight majors abound.

Woods still hasn’t indicated for certain when he plans to return to the tour.
