42 matches are in the books in this year's Cricket World Cup, with just seven left to play. Six of the tournament's fourteen teams have been sent packing, leaving eight lucky squads to battle it out for the right to be crowned champions. Three wins is all that separates them from immortality.

The quarterfinals kick off in Sydney on Wednesday with a thrilling match-up between the Proteas of South Africa and the Lions of Sri Lanka.

South Africa is the favored team to advance here. They're deeper at most positions, and AB de Villiers is playing like the best cricketer in the world throughout this tourney.

Sri Lanka, however, is one of those squads that just knows how to win. They have more sudden death experience top-to-bottom than any squad, and they're used to progressing deep into the knockout stage. Although they haven't won it all since 1996, they have finished as runners-up in both the '07 and '11 World Cups.

This, quite simply, is anyone's match.
