Fox Sports 1’s Garbage Time premiered last night to positive reviews and a lot of potential.
It’s the brainchild of host Katie Nolan, the rising FS1 personality who’s so popular even Bill Simmons tried to steal her away to ESPN.
SLIDESHOW: Introducing New Fox Sports 1 TV Star Katie Nolan
Garbage Time offered a little of everything in its opening half hour, which is predictable for a new show searching to find its legs. If it can be compared to anything that’s come before it, it’s less indebted to sports talk TV than it is to late night comedy series like The Daily Show, The Soup, or Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Nolan opened the show with a barrage of direct-to-the-camera one liners covering the week in sports, before segueing into an extended comedic rant about parents turning their heartbroken kids into viral videos.
Popular comedian Adam Carrolla also stopped by the set to dish out a few sports-based opinions in the kind of unhinged way only he knows how.
Nolan's peers were quick to show the new host some support across social media on Sunday night:
Katie Nolan's new show is off to a good start.
