Aaron Hernandez Suspected In Boston Double Murder In 2012?

Already jailed on murder charges, former New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez is now being investigated in connection with a 2012 double homicide.

Fox News is now reporting that investigators have reignited their probe of a July 16, 2012 double murder that took place in downtown Boston. The victims are identified as Safire Furtado and Daniel Abreu, both workers at a nearby Dorchester cleaning company. A third person the station did not identify was also shot and seriously injured.

Witnesses told police the men had just left a nearby bar and were sitting at a traffic light at the intersection of Shawmut Avenue and Herald Street just after 2 a.m. when a driver in a gray or silver SUV with Rhode Island plates drove up and someone opened fire.  Both of the men killed were sitting in the front seat and the man that survived in the back.

Fox didn’t detail why police may now consider Hernandez a possible suspect. Hernandez, 23, was charged with first degree murder and at least five gun violations earlier this week, all in connection with execution-style slaying of 27-year-old semi-pro football Odin Lloyd.

Investigators say Hernandez was angry at Odin after the two men had recently quarreled about who Odin had been keeping company with. Hernandez has been ordered held without bail, but lawyers for him are expecting to again go before a judge later today in hopes of being granted bond.
