New York Knicks guard and Adidas star Iman Shumpert accidentally leaked an image of the Knicks new alternate jerseys. Get some sunglasses because these new uniforms are bright.
Carmelo Anthony, who played one season for the Syracuse Orange and led them to a national championship, will feel right at home in the Knicks new, bright orange digs. Shumpert did a photo shoot, posing in the new uniform and uploaded it to Instagram before quickly deleting it.
Once something hits the internet, though, it is there forever. Others took screen shots of Shumpert in the orange uniforms and now everyone knows what they look like. A Knicks spokesman speaking with Yahoo! Sports said he could not confirm that the orange jersey and orange shorts combination is an official new alternate.
The new jerseys are a smart move for the Knicks, who earn two notches in the positive column. The first is that they stick with the Knicks colors, unlike the Oklahoma City Thunder, for example, who debuted navy blue and white alternates, which represent a total departure from their teal blue, orange and black roots.
The second is that Anthony's jersey sales have soared to the top of the list in terms of sales. Debuting new orange ones, especially jerseys destined for popularity because of their dedication to the orange and blue scheme, will likely keep Anthony at the coveted top spot.
It's unknown whether these jerseys are going to be worn at home, on the road or both. The Knicks were 31-10 at home last season, and 23-18 on the road, so they should probably stick to the home whites at Madison Square Garden.
The orange assault could blind opponents, rendering them even less capable of stopping NBA scoring champion Anthony from raining baskets on them.
