Bernard Pierce Robbed At Gunpoint, BMW Carjacked, Ravens RB Left Unhurt

Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl-winning running back Bernard Pierce was robbed and car-jacked at gunpoint Sunday while back in Philadelphia, where he was an All-American rusher.

According to CBS News, the former Temple University star was near the 7500 block of Haverford Ave. when he was accosted by a man who jumped from another car, while his accomplice remained behind the wheel, and robbed Pierce and his companion, eventually driving away in the NFL player’s BMW.

The vehicle has since been recovered and police are testing it for clues. Meanwhile, Pierce’s mother, Tammy Pierce, later told CBS of her son: “First of all, I thank God that he’s fine. I don’t care whatever he lost — his car, whatever was in there. He’s fine. I think he was targeted because people knew who he was, and that’s sad.”

Pierce, who is from Ardmore, was visiting his family. His mother said he had only been in town a week, and that he’d purchased the BMW two weeks ago. She also said that he’s now nervous and concerned for his safety.

The Ravens organization, responding to a CBS inquiry, emailed a statement that reads: “We have been in contact with Bernard and we are aware of the situation.”

Meanwhile, Philadelphia police are asking the public for help with any information that will help them catch the robbers.
