NFL defensive back Cortland Finnegan called it quits for his career on Wednesday. He posted the announcement on Instagram. During his career, Finnegan played for the Tennessee Titans, St. Louis Rams, and the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins released Finnegan just under two weeks ago, and he apparently will not try to find a new home in 2015.

DeMarco Murray Joining Forces With Chip Kelly Against The Cowboys?

Finnegan was known for being a tough player during his time, and for a brief while when he played in Tennessee, he looked poised to join the conversation about the best cornerbacks in football. Finnegan never did quite reach those heights, and perhaps the incident he will be best remembered for is the on-field fight he got into with then-Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson.

Of course, "fight" may be a bit of a strong word for the contest, as it was entirely one-sided in Johnson's favor. Finnegan has not forgotten about the incident, and he referenced it in his Instagram goodbye while also taking a shot at the big wide receiver.

Finnegan can say what he wants about the fight, but many will never be convinced of anything other than that he lost it badly. Check out the video of the fight below and see what you think.
