The story of Afghanistan and England at this World Cup is the story of how two different squads can react so differently to the same result.

Both nations will be heading home early, having failed to qualify for the tournament's quarterfinals. However, the Afghans were making their World Cup debut and were just happy to be a part of the proceedings. For them to have escaped with even just two points is a major accomplishment.

England, however? Their time in the Cup has been nothing short of a disaster. The team came to Oz with legitimate title aspirations, but floundered in their first two matches against co-hosts Australia and New Zealand, and just never recovered. A loss to Bangladesh over the weekend sealed their unfortunate fate.
