There are eight spring training games scheduled for Thursday's slate.

Ferrell's stunt will undoubtedly be humorous, but it is happening for a serious cause. The MLB is teaming up with HBO for a project dedicated to cancer awareness. The cable network will film at five different spring training venues on Thursday and Ferrell is said to be a part of it.

Per the report, two of the spring training games had their times maneuvered to fit Ferrell's schedule and there are games staggered throughout the day with the first one beginning at 3 p.m. ET and the final one schedule for first pitch at 9:15 p.m. ET.

Ferrell, 47, is no stranger to sports as he is a fan of the Seattle Seahawks and their head coach Pete Carroll and even appeared during the World Cup to get U.S. fans psyched up last summer.

Ferrell has also been in several sports movies including the NASCAR-inspired Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), the ice skating film Blades of Glory (2007), and the basketball movie Semi-Pro (2008).

A baseball movie could eventually be in the works, and Ferrell will test at his skills at all nine positions the sport offers on Thursday.
