Kobe Bryant Walks [VIDEO], Says He Can Play Three Or Four More Years

Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers hobbled superstar guard is walking again after tearing his Achilles tendon late in the season, a fitting ending for a tumultuous year.

The Lakers are facing myriad questions this offseason, the biggest of which is not even about Bryant. Dwight Howard, the league's premier center is a free agent and judging from reports during the year his lone season in Los Angeles was less than cheery.

He was not received in the locker room with adulation from Bryant; the Lakers guard prodded Howard publicly and privately about his dedication, work ethic and willingness to play hurt. Howard also reportedly complained to Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak about head coach Mike D'Antoni leaning on Bryant and Steve Nash for leadership rather than him.

Bryant's relationship with Howard going forward will be crucial in Dwight's decision whether to stay or go, and realistically Bryant's ability to keep playing at a high level is in jeopardy.

Bryant, though, is not considering anything but returning to full strength. On a trip to Brazil, Bryant spoke and said "I could easily see myself playing another three or four years." That could be a blessing or a curse. If Howard thinks he and Kobe can mend fences that will be music to his ears, especially since the Lakers can pad Howard's wallet in a way the other suitors can't. However, if he truly hated Kobe's alpha dog personality that may push him to the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks or some other team with cap room.

Despite last season being Bryant's 17th NBA campaign, he proved he can still be a high-level contributor and top scoring option for a playoff team. He has never sustained an injury as serious as a torn Achilles before, but he has demonstrated quick healing in the past.
