Over the weekend, it looked like Philadelphia had their man that they wanted to replace the departed LeSean McCoy as the lead running back in Chip Kelly's attack. That man was Frank Gore, who has had a number of successful years with the San Francisco 49ers, but now it looks like the Eagles may be left searching once again.

According to ESPN, Gore is now reconsidering his decision to agree in principle to a three-year, $7.5 million deal with Philadelphia (the deal could not become official until the new league year starts later today). It is not immediately clear whether this is simply a case of cold feet by Gore or whether some other factor caused him to change his mind, but it looks all but certain that he will not be joining the Eagles.

One enterprising fan took it upon himself to create a moving tribute video about Gore's tenure as a member of the Eagles, and it is just fantastic.

The Indianapolis Colts are also reportedly interested in signing Gore. The Colts have been pining for an effective running game to take some of the burden off of star quarterback Andrew Luck, and Gore could be the back that could finally live up to expectations.

Gore has rushed for at least 1,000 in eight of the last nine years, including the last four in a row. The only season he failed to hit that mark was the year he missed several games with a broken hip. Gore is also considered an effective pass protector, and he demonstrated passable chops as a receiver earlier in his career.
