Scottie Pippen Assault Update: Beaten Fan Allegedly Called NBA Star N-Word, Spit On Him

The man alleging that former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen savagely beat him during an unprovoked attacked reportedly started the tussle when he called the Hall of Fame forward the N-word and spit on him, according to the New York Daily News.

The incident took place Sunday night as Pippen exited a Malibu restaurant holding his 4-year-old daughter and the 50-something-year-old unidentified man approached him about getting an autograph.

After Pippen declined, the man allegedly launched the tirade that lead to the fight in which he was knocked out cold and reportedly kicked by the 47-year-old retired star. He was later hospitalized and treated for a broken tooth and swollen mouth.

Police let it be known on Monday they wanted to speak with Pippen and were considering filing felony assault charges against him. Pippen voluntarily went in to talk to police later that day and gave his side of the story, which, according to the Daily News, has been supported by several witnesses.

“Can you imagine, you’re out to dinner with your wife, your four kids and your mother-in-law, and someone calls you the N-word and starts to get physical?” one witness told the Daily News. He later called the man’s story a “crock,” adding “when Scottie left this guy had no injuries.”

The Daily News also reported several other witnesses described the man as intoxicated at the time of the incident.
