Derrick Rose is dealing with a serious knee injury for the third straight season, and many fans at this point are starting to feel sorry for him. Many fans of the team are starting to wonder if Rose is cursed and whether he is destined to be his generation's Penny Hardaway - a player with prodigious talent that never maximized it because of injury problems.

Chip Kelly's Roster Moves The Work Of A Genius Or The Tinkering Of A Madman?

According to The Triangle Offense, a couple of enterprising Bulls fans set up a unique way for fans of the team to support their seemingly star-crossed point guard:

"Sports fans know pathos. There's rapturous joy vicariously attained one year and disproportionately destructive sads the next. That's what we sign up for by pledging allegiance to laundry, right? And yet, there's a particular suffering that only Chicago Bulls fans can claim. Having watched Derrick Rose, their homegrown MVP, ascend and then be dealt season-ending knee injuries in successive seasons made those fans pin their hopes to a rehab schedule. Now having gingerly heaped expectations back onto Rose, a tear in dude's right knee has again sent despondent fans back to their calendars to mark the days until he can prove that he's not Penny Hardaway (Rose is still five weeks away from playing again. Supposedly.)

Until that day comes, or rather, as a gesture of faith that it will (right?) artists/believers who go by Bae Cutler and Joking Noah decided to hold a vigil for Pooh's knees on Sunday. "When [his Rose's knee injury] happened again no one was mad, everyone just felt pain," Noah says. "I was at work and everything just stopped. The next thought was 'how can we make him better?'" The duo wheat pasted a rendering of Rose and set up shop under an I-90 overpass and invited the similarly despairing to join in. As a Rose-themed soundtrack played, Chicagoans came through and contributed to the vigil which still stands at Fullerton Ave. near N Damen."

Rose will allegedly be able to return in time to help with a playoff run, but the Bulls may not be able to compete for a championship if they have to wait until he can play his way into shape. Still, it is good to see that the fans have not lost hope. Hopefully Rose will come back healthy and reward them for their patience.
