Bulls Considering Dealing Luol Deng For No. 3 Pick

With Derrick Rose on the mend and Jimmy Butler on the rise, the Chicago Bulls are reportedly considering dealing iron man Luol Deng to the Washington Wizards for the No. 3 pick in this week’s NBA draft.

According to ESPN, the Bulls began weighing trade proposals for Deng in earnest last week and may be open to listening to other offers as well. The Cleveland Cavaliers, who own both the top and No. 19 pick of the draft, are also said to be interested in the All-Star forward.

As for the proposed deal with the Wizards, ESPN reports the deal would more than likely also result in Emeka Okafor being shipped to the Bulls. Okafor, the website added, would first have to formally opt into his contract for next season at a salary of $14.5 million.

ESPN didn’t speculate on whom the Bulls might be interested in drafting if they were to move up into the lottery stages. The team also owns the No. 20 selection.

As has been the case throughout his career, Deng was among the league leaders in minutes played last season and, along with center Joakim Noah, stepped up in Rose’s season-long absence to have all-star seasons.

Deng, however, missed several playoffs games after being hospitalized with some sort of viral infection.
