Dressed in scuba and diving gear, Massachusetts state police have now turned their search for clues in an ongoing murder probe to a small body of water located near the home of New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez.
Police have already searched Hernandez’s home on several different occasions since the bullet-riddled body of “associate” Odin Lloyd was found sprawled near a rental vehicle registered in his name several days ago.
According to The Boston Globe, following an extensive search of his North Attleboro mansion on Saturday, investigators left with several bags of purported evidence. Previous reports have indicated Hernandez, Lloyd and two other men were seen drinking at a local bar on the night of the murder and all of them left together at the end of the night.
The Globe reports Hernandez drew the suspicion of investigators after they discovered his home security system had been intentionally destroyed and he later turned his cell phone over to them smashed into pieces. The paper also reports police want to know why he hired a home-cleaning company to scrub his home only hours after the 27-year-old Odin went missing.
As the investigations plays out, the Patriots have banned Hernandez from the team facility, as speculation about his imminent arrest has continued to build.
