Dwight Howard News: Houston Making All-Out Push To Land Star Center

After watching Game 7 of the NBA Finals between Miami and San Antonio, Houston Rockets forward Chandler Parsons had a simple message for Los Angeles Lakers free-agent center Dwight Howard.

“Come to Houston; that could be us,” Parsons tweeted Howard not long after the Heat had put the finishing touches on their back-to-back titles.

It hardly marked the first time the Rockets’ self-appointed pitchman had reached out in a not-so subtle way. “I talk to Dwight every day,” he told the Houston Chronicle. “I’ve created a relationship with him, where I feel like we’re very close. He hits me up about everything… I’ve covered pretty much every question he’s had. I basically tell him, come and join us and make us great.”

What Howard will or won’t do remains a mystery, but what is known is the Lakers are in a position to offer him $30 million more than any other potential suitor. But it’s also known that Howard and first-year Coach Mike D’Antoni didn’t always see eye-to-eye last season on the best way to make use of him.

Then, there are people like Parsons, always available to give him that little push in their direction.

“That’s the main point I’ve gotten from talking to him,” he told the Chronicle. “He wants to win. He wants to win rings. It’s obvious there is no better fit, no better team or opportunity to do that than with us.”
