Curt Schilling was known during his playing days for being outspoken about his beliefs, and that is a trend that he has continued now that his playing days are over. However, he also recently proved that he will take to Twitter for more than just to voice an opinion.

RG3 Setting Washington Up For Failure?

Schilling recently sent out a fairly innocuous tweet congratulating his daughter on getting accepted to college, where she will play softball.

Because the Internet is the Internet, some trolls immediately took Schilling's tweet and ran with it. The tweets were pretty generic at first, but two of the trolls took it to a level that most would agree was way too far.

Here are some of the tweets:

After seeing the tweets, Schilling did what any good dad would do and set out to defend his daughter. According to Deadspin, Schilling tracked down the two most egregious offenders, and he posted the following on his blog:

"The Sports Guru"? Ya he's a DJ named Adam Nagel (DJ is a bit strong since he's on the air for 1 hour a week) on Brookdale Student Radio at Brookdale Community College. How do you think that place feels about this stud representing their school? You don't think this isn't going to be a nice compilation that will show up every single time this idiot is googled the rest of his life? What happens when a potential woman he's after googles and reads this?

The other clown? He's VP of the Theta Xi fraternity at Montclair State University. I gotta believe if Theta Xi is cool with a VP of one of their chapters acting like this I'd prefer to have no one I know in it. Also, does anyone attending Montclair State University have a student handbook? If so can you pass it along because I am pretty sure there are about 90 violations in this idiots tweets."

Both offending Twitter accounts have since been deleted, and Brookdale Community College released a statement saying that their student had been suspended. It has also been determined that "Hollywood" was Sean MacDonald, who graduated from Montclair State. He was hired as a part-time ticket seller for the Yankees several weeks ago. He was fired after his tweets.

In regard to the firing, Jason Zillo, the Yankees director of communications, said, "We have zero tolerance for anything like this." Schilling also apologized to his daughter for potentially embarrassing her, but she does not seem to mind.
