PJ Hairston North Carolina Investigation: NCAA Officials Expand Inquiry

The NCAA is reportedly investigating the alleged relationship between North Carolina star player P.J. Hairston and a pro level sports agent.

The Biglead.com is reporting Rodney Blackstock, the same agent implicated in the agency’s ongoing probe of Kansas guard and likely NBA Draft lottery pick Ben McLemore,  has now been tied to Hairston, whom he’s reportedly known from his Greensboro hometown for several years.

Sources told USA Today Sports an NCAA compliance officer met with North Carolina officials earlier this week to learn more about Blackstock and the team’s returning leader scorer’s ongoing relationship.

Hairston was recently arrested and charged with possession of marijuana after Carolina police stopped him during a roadside stop and found the contraband in the vehicle he was driving. Reports later surfaced that police also found a 9-millimeter handgun and a magazine with nine rounds of ammunition near the vehicle. Three cigars and a plastic baggie that contained a half-ounce of marijuana also were seized.

Blackstock was also recently tied to McLemore after a St. Louis-based AAU coach charged he allegedly paid thousand of dollars to steer the probable lottery-bound draft pick to their agency.

Among the first questions many expect to be asked of Hairston is if Blackstock is somehow responsible for the regular payments made on the SUV luxury vehicle he was driving at the initial time of his arrest.
