Tiger Woods is taking some time away from golf after struggling badly in his first few appearances of 2015. He presumably wants to sort out his swing - which nearly everyone agrees is shaky at best right now - before the time comes to prepare for the Master's in April.

According to ESPN, there are rumors that Tiger may not be taking time away from golf by choice, however. Dan Olsen, a 48-year old former PGA Tour player said recently that Woods has been suspended, a claim that the PGA Tour and Woods' agent both strongly deny.

"I heard he's on a month's suspension ... it's kind of a strong witness," said Olsen on Friday. "It's a credible person who is telling me this."

"It's not testosterone, but it's something else," Olsen added. "I think when it's all said and done, he's gonna surpass Lance Armstrong with infamy."

On Monday, Olsen changed his tune, backing off from his previous comments.

"Everything I said on that radio interview was only my opinion and not based on any first-hand knowledge or facts," Olsen said. "I want to make a full retraction to everything I said for the entire radio interview. And I apologize to Tiger, Nike, Phil (Mickelson), (commissioner) Tim Finchem and the PGA Tour.''

Although the PGA Tour rarely comments on disciplinary matters, they did deny Olsen's suspension claims.

"There is no truth whatsoever to these claims," Ty Votaw, executive VP of the PGA Tour, said Monday. "We categorically deny these allegations.''

Mark Steinberg, Woods' agent, echoed the PGA's sentiments. "These claims are absolutely, unequivocally and completely false," he said in a statement. "They are unsourced, unverified and completely ridiculous. The PGA Tour has confirmed that there is no truth to these claims."

The Tour also said that it would be required to announce if Woods had been suspended for performance-enhancing drugs and that his suspension would definitely be longer than one month. However, if he was suspended for a recreational substance, they would not have to disclose anything.
