The Los Angeles Dodgers (30-41) and San Diego Padres (37-36) will continue their series at Petco Park with a Friday night matchup. The first pitch is set for 10:10 p.m. ET and will air live on mlb.com with a paid subscription.

Clayton Kershaw (5-4) looks to avoid a career-worst three straight losing starts against the Padres, who look to continue their recent surge. Kershaw has the National League's lowest ERA (1.84) and allowed just three hits and struck out eight in a one-run, seven inning performance during Saturday's 5-3, 11-inning victory at Pittsburgh. Kershaw received a no-decision after Kenley Jansen blew the save.

"It's a little disappointing that he didn't get the win because he deserved it," outfielder Andre Ethier said of Kershaw. "When you see them score a run in the ninth, it's a little sickening feeling that one got away from him."

During his last five appearances, the former Cy Young winner is 0-2 with a 2.91 ERA - the longest winless draught he's faced since going 0-3 with a 2.60 ERA over his last 11 starts in 2009.

"You control what you can control. It's not easy to do sometimes," he told MLB's official website. "But you control what you can control and that's what I'm trying to do."

Kershaw will face Clayton Richard (2-5) on Friday. Richard currently holds a 7.01 ERA, but is coming off a dominant performance against Arizona. He allowed just one run, no walks and seven hits in a season-best eight inning performance to earn his first win as a starter.
