It wasn't the best of days for Rory McIlroy. The world No. 1 ended his 2015 U.S. debut by shooting rounds of 73 and 74, missing the cut at the Honda Classic. His total of seven over par was well outside the 36-hole cut line of four over.

McIlroy, surprising to no one, was not pleased with his performance.

"Yeah, I'm pissed off," he said (via ESPN). "I don't like missing cuts. You want to be playing on the weekend, and I'm not there. Well, I'm here; I'm home. I'm not going to be playing this weekend, which is not nice."

"I guess after coming off a three-week break, felt a little...I wouldn't say rusty, but just not quite on top of my game yesterday," McIlroy added. "And then today, I felt like I was trying to get something going and couldn't. Coming off three weeks off and playing in conditions like these, it sort of shows you where your game's at."

"Just got to regroup and put some work in and get ready for Miami next week."

Saturday was the first cut McIlroy missed in the United States since the 2012 U.S. Open. It is the 11th missed cut of his PGA Tour career. Partially to blame is his long game. The 25-year-old hit just 14 of 28 fairways at PGA National, and only six on Friday. He also hit just 18 of 36 greens.

"Usually, I'm good at taking it from the range to the course," McIlroy said. "That's never really been a problem with me. But this week, it was funny, it felt like the first tournament of the season when I've actually played two events."
