Stanton is well on his way, and he is on track to start on Opening Day. He will have a stylish new face guard, and he recently became the first athlete to be wearing body paint on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

The image shows Stanton holding a bat with his arms folded across his chest, and the level of detail that goes into painting the slugger is staggering, going all the way down to the buttons on his jersey and his trademark orange sleeve.

Stanton is arguably the best young hitter in the game, and he figures to be one of the premier power hitters in the game over the next several years.

For the painting work, Erin Heatherton flew in to help with job, which was undoubtedly one of the longest photo shoots that Stanton has ever been a part of since coming into the league.

Heatherton considers herself a big sports fan, according to Terez Owens, and she put some of her knowledge on display while helping to get Stanton ready for the cover shoot. Check out the video below.
