The Chicago Bulls received bad news this week after finding out star point guard Derrick Rose is set to once again miss significant time with a knee injury. Rose just had surgery to repair another torn meniscus, although this time the team believes he may be able return for the postseason.

Rose hasn’t quite been himself this season, and was certainly far from his MVP form, but he remained a productive cog in the Bulls’ offense. His 18.4 points and five assists will be sorely missed, as his replacement, Aaron Brooks, is averaging 10 points and less than three assists a night.

Kirk Hinrich will fill in some for Rose, but the Bulls are reportedly looking for a familiar face to help fill the void—2012-13 postseason hero Nate Robinson. The diminutive microwave scorer has toiled on the bench in Denver this year, scoring just 5.8 points in 14 minutes of nightly action.

In 2013, Robinson pulled the Bulls through in a tough triple overtime game against the Brooklyn Nets, hanging 34 points while shooting better than 60 percent from the field and 42 percent from beyond the arc.

The following game saw a 20-point performance from Robinson that included eight assists. They lost that one, but took the series in seven games largely because he carried the offense.

While Robinson makes sense because of his familiarity with the team and coach Tom Thibodeau’s offense, The Chicago Tribune has reported the Bulls have had preliminary talks with reps for Mike James and Jannero Pargo.
