They say time heals all wounds and laughter is the best medicine. Caroline Wozniacki exercised both in a tweet referencing former fiancé Rory McIlroy.

Tennis.com posted a tweet from the Dane tennis star who was playing the mobile phone game, "Trivia Crack." A simple sports question came up and Wozniacki gave what could have led to a complicated answer.

She tweeted: "I KNEW having dated a golfer would come in handy at some point #triviacrack #igotitright #iwon"

Rory McIlroy dating woman who came to his rescue at the 2012 Ryder Cup?

Wozniacki, however, simply laughed off her tweet as a joke and told Tennis.com that she was happy to do so after her painful, public breakup with McIlroy.

"I see positives in everything... things happen," Wozniacki told the site earlier this week. "Things happen for a reason. I just found myself hilarious yesterday. I think that's my sense of humor sometimes.

"I think you can write different scenarios and I think it would have been worse standing at the altar or the day after the wedding. But I'm pretty sure that I didn't think it was very fun at the time."

Caroline Wozniacki is through with marathons for now

Wozniacki and McIlroy got engaged on New Year's Eve, 2013. Wozniacki seemingly was letting her tennis career fade into the distance as she was preparing to become a wife, and hopefully soon, a mother.

That dream shattered when McIlroy announced in a press conference before the European Tour's BMW PGA Championship that the two had broken up. He said the decision was mutual and then went out and won the tournament.

It was Wozniacki who thought McIlroy was joking when he broke up with her over the phone. A broken-hearted and injured Wozniacki bowed out in the first round of the French Open.

Then the athletic careers of both took off.

McIlroy won the British Open and the PGA Championship to seize the No. 1 ranking. Wozniacki, former No. 1, won the Istanbul Cup and advanced to the finals of the U.S. Open in returning to the top 10.

Since the breakup, Wozniacki has been linked romantically to Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan. McIlroy has been linked to several women, but neither have announced a serious relationship since their split.

Perhaps the "happen for a reason" part was to give tennis and golf two great athletes peaking in their respective careers.
