The Chicago Cubs (29-41) and St. Louis Cardinals (46-26) will end their current series with a Thursday night matchup at Busch Sradium. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET and will air live on Fox Midwest and stream live on MLB.com.

Lance Lynn (9-1) will look to avenge his only loss of the season he suffered against Chicago last month. His 2-1 loss at Wrigley Field proved to be the only disappointment to an otherwise outstanding season.

Lynn is currently averaging 9.21 strikeouts per nine innings, which ranks fifth in the National League. He enters Thursday's game against Chicago with a 3.56 ERA.

"You look back at it, you gave up two runs on one swing," said Lynn, who dropped to 4-1 with a 2.87 ERA in five starts versus Chicago. "I got behind him and made him hit it and he put a good swing on it so you tip your cap there, but for the most part I threw the ball well. That was only one I wanted back."

Lynn is coming off a winning effort in which he was bailed out by the Cardinals' offense. St. Louis captured a 13-7 win over Miami on Saturday, despite the Lynn allowing a career-worst seven runs, while also giving up a season-high nine hits in five innings.

"It was a bad day," said Lynn. "I was fighting it the whole time. I only had one pitch, the fastball. When I threw it they got hits, and I wasn't able to get other pitches over for strikes."

Lynn will face Scott Feldman (6-5) Thursday. Feldman has pitched well this season, despite a lack of run support.

He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all of his past twelve starts but two and currently holds a 3.05 ERA.
