It appears WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar was leaning toward staying with the WWE rather than re-joining UFC, but "The Beast" stormed out on Monday Night RAW this week due to a contract dispute.
Stephanie McMahon Furious Over WWE Diva AJ Lee's Tweets
There were multiple reports on Tuesday that said "The Beast" flew into Nashville and was scheduled to be on RAW, but left in a huff.
While the reasons for Lesnar's departure were unknown at first -- and even included wild rumors of Roman Reigns failing a drug test -- it appears as though a dispute over his new deal caused him to leave.
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Lesnar stormed out of the Bridgestone Arena, the site of Monday's RAW, after a business dispute with Vince McMahon.
That dispute had to do with a new contract for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion as his current deal is slated to run out in the next couple of months.
Per the report, the issues had nothing to do with the current or future creative plans or even Lesnar's possible desire to work in UFC while also under contract with the WWE, they just had to do with the terms of the new pact.
It is believed that the issue has still not been resolved as both sides are refusing to back down on what kind of deal they want, but there is no fear that Lesnar will breach his contract by no-showing his next few dates.
Lesnar is set to appear on the March 9 RAW in Pittsburgh, the March 23 go-home RAW in Los Angeles, the March 29 WrestleMania 31 event at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. and the March 30 post-WrestleMania RAW in San Jose.
Lesnar was scheduled and advertised for RAW this week and was booked for a segment alongside his manager Paul Heyman that would have also involved Roman Reigns.
Reigns won the Royal Rumble Match and then successfully defended his title shot against Daniel Bryan at Fastlane on Sunday in Nashville, so he will battle Lesnar for the title at WrestleMania 31 in the main event.
Lesnar stormed off prior to RAW ending, so the WWE did the segment without him as just Heyman and Reigns were used for the show.
Jim Ross took to his blog at Jrsbarbq.com to address Lesnar walking out.
"Read online about Brock Lesnar allegedly walking out of Monday Night RAW prior to his appearance on Monday's show so to address the many Tweets @JRsBBQ and emails, I have no idea what the issue may or may not be," Ross wrote. "Generally, my philosophy on matters such as this is to keep my nose out of other's business and that these matters are usually about one of the Two C's, cash or creative. That may or may not be the case in this matter but I'm confident that the two sides will reunite here at crunch time in attempting to build much needed momentum for WrestleMania which will be here before we know it. In today's world of big money and the multitude of diverse personalties involved in negotiations in all sports ad entertainment, once again the term communication elbows its way into the equation."
There were rumors that Lesnar may be looking to return to UFC, where he is a former Heavyweight Champion and had to retire in 2011 due to a bout with diverticulitis, but it looks like he's trying to stick to wrestling.
Lesnar has had an unstoppable run in the WWE over the last year, but is expected to drop the gold to Reigns at the "Show of Shows."
What happens after that is a question mark as his contract negotiations with the WWE have taken an ugly turn.
