Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and former Cavaliers coach Byron Scott had an interview Tuesday that 'went well', a source with knowledge of the meeting told ESPN's Chris Broussard. The Clippers are scheduled to continue their interviews as they meet with Brian Shaw on Wednesday.

Sources have told Broussard that the Clippers expect to make a decision as soon as Friday, or possibly another week if Sterling decides to further consider his candidates. The Clippers had also interviewed former Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins last week.

Los Angeles was in talks with the Boston Celtics to acquire coach Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett in a blockbuster trade. However, the two sides failed to reach an agreement and are reportedly breaking ties of negotiations.

However, the longer the Clippers wait to make a coaching decision, the more the likelihood is that they can possibly reach an agreement with Boston.

Sterling met with Scott at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills and the two sides watched Game 6 of the NBA Finals together. Other members of the Clippers front office in attendance during the meeting were team president Andy Roeser and general manager Gary Sacks. Sterling's wife was also present during the interview.

The conversation included many basketball related questions and memories of Scott being drafted by the team in 1983. Sterling joked that Scott joining the team would be the coach coming full circle with the organization.

The Los Angeles native never played for the Clippers, but was traded to the Lakers shortly after being drafted by the team. He also played for the Pacers and Grizzlies during his NBA playing career, as well as Panathinaikos in Greece for his final pro season.

Scott's coaching tenure includes an assistant job with the Sacramento Kings before taking head coaching positions with the New Jersey Nets, New Orleans Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers.
