Full-back Kevin Locke is being courted according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Salford Red Devils full-back, and representative of New Zealand, will be offered the chance to leave his current club in the next 24 hours. Should he accept a move to the Scottish Rugby Union, he would qualify to play for Scotland through his father. Scottish Rugby's chief executive Mark Dodson revealed his intentions to talk with Locke and make him an offer.

"We plan to have a chat with Kevin and are ready to make him an offer if he wants to move to rugby union," said Dodson. "It is down to him to decide what he wants to do. If he does, then we will take things from there.

"An opportunity to speak with Kevin to discuss a move to union has merely presented itself," he added. "We are now following up this opportunity."

Dodson says he spoke with Salford owner Marwan Koukash last Sunday to further talks on Locke's situation and was told it was possible to speak with him. Dodson insists, however, both he and his colleagues have not been tampering, nor in any way attempted to unsettle Locke.

Locke featured in New Zealand's 34-2 thumping at the hands of Australia in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup final at Old Trafford. Should he accept Dodson's offer, he will turn away an opportunity to feature for one of the tournament's prohibited favorites in 2015.
