The WWE's doctor Chris Amann is preparing to go to battle with CM Punk in a lawsuit while the "Best in the World's" wife AJ Lee is inching her way back to the squared circle.

Lee was written off WWE television in December to heal up a neck injury and other ailments, but it seems as though she is set to return to action shortly.

Things were bad between the WWE and Punk when Lee originally left over two months ago, and they've only gotten worse since then.

Back in November prior to Lee taking a hiatus from the WWE, Punk, her husband, appeared on his friend Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast to reveal what led to him leaving the WWE. Punk bashed the company for wanting him to work hurt and for "stifling" him creatively.

"The Best in the World" also took aim at Amann, saying he misdiagnosed a lump on his back and tried to sweep a concussion Punk received at the 2014 Royal Rumble -- his last night with the company -- under the rug.

Just a couple of weeks after the podcast came out, Lee lost to Nikki Bella at the TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs (and Stairs) in December and was written out of the WWE storylines after Bella sprayed her in the eyes with hairspray.

There were rumors that Lee would return in January, however she was pulled from house shows prior to the Royal Rumble and hasn't been booked to return since.

Amann has responded to Punk's comments with a defamation lawsuit for him and Cabana and the WWE released a statement offering its full support of the suit.

If things weren't awkward for Lee in the company before, they certainly have to be now.

Despite this, Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Lee is expected to return to WWE television soon and there is a creative storyline in place for her.

It's unknown, however, if the lawsuit with Punk will end up changing her status with the company.

Lee and Punk were dating at the time Punk walked out on the company in January 2014 and they were married sometime last summer. Punk noted on Cabana's podcast that he received his official termination papers from the WWE on the same day he and Lee tied the knot.

Lee took time off from the WWE after dropping the Divas Championship to Paige on the night after WrestleMania XXX last April in order to move in and marry Punk.

The WWE didn't hold Lee back for her relationship with their rival as she became a three-time Divas Champion upon her return to the company.

Now, she's on a four month hiatus that looks to be ending soon, but things have to be strange for her.

Punk said he would never have a working relationship with the WWE again and he signed with UFC in December -- with Lee by his side at UFC 181 when he announced it -- and is expected to have his first fight with the company late this year.

There was said to be heat on Lee for being at the UFC event with Punk and for her Slammy Awards speech where she went off script and buried the other Divas.

Unless things change, Lee could be headed back to the WWE very soon.
