Dez Bryant had a great season that solidified his standing as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, and now he wants to get paid like one. The Dallas Cowboys want to keep their young star around, but the negotiations have been going slow so far, and the team may resort to franchising him.

According to Pro Football Talk, Bryant has resisted signing a deal so far because he wants significant guaranteed money, which the team has so far been unwilling to offer. It looks like the team will use the franchise tag on the receiver, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thinks Dez should be excited.

"I've never seen anybody just pout to the extent that they wouldn't do it over this kind of money," Jones recently said. "That usually is not realistic. It's just too much money."

'Ray Rice Type' Video Exists Of Dez Bryant?

If the Cowboys and Bryant are unable to agree on a long-term deal after franchising the wideout, then he could elect to use that decision against him. He could choose to avoid signing the tender right away, which would give other teams a chance to sign him to an offer sheet. If Dallas did not match the offer sheet, then Bryant could join a new team if they are willing to sacrifice the draft picks.

Then Bryant could choose to avoid all non-mandatory workouts while still keeping himself in shape so that he can have another huge season in 2015, which will put he and the Cowboys in the same position this time next year. The team will be reluctant to franchise him repeatedly because of the salary escalation that it would carry.

However, rumors have also emerged about the existence of a video that shows Bryant doing something that could merit a major suspension, similar to what happened to Ray Rice. The actual contents of the video are unknown, but apparently its existence is common knowledge within NFL circles. It could be that video that is holding up negotiations between Bryant and the Cowboys.
