A perfect 300 score in bowling is hard enough, but Anthony Grant of South Carolina did the unthinkable when he bowled a perfect game with a prosthetic arm.
Grant, a resident of Hilton Head, S.C., waited 25 years and came close several times before bowling a 300 in December.
According to The State in South Carolina, Grant, 52, an IT worker for Beaufort County schools completed the feat after losing his arm as a result of a car accident he was in back in 1988.
"There's only a couple of bowlers I know that bowl with two hands," Grant said two months after notching a 300, according to the publication. "There are some bowlers that bowl with two hands. But all the ones I know, everybody bowls with one hand."
Grant's strong right hand helped him bowl a perfect game, but he said it's his commitment to the sport that helped him fine-tune his game.
"I'm a committed bowler," Grant said.
Grant's team was struggling that fateful night in December, but after he scored a 200 and 161, he changed balls, which led to his personal history.
"It is a nervous feeling," Grant said of getting closer to the milestone frame-by-frame. "Even though you're trying not to think about it, how can you not think about it? The closer you get, you try to do your normal thing. The buzz is kind of going around the league, so now everybody is coming to check you out."
Grant had been trying for years to accomplish the feat and he senses relief now that it's over.
"Finally I got the monkey off my back," Grant said.
Now, he'll look to notch 300 again.
