According to The Cook County Record in Illinois, WWE doctor Chris Amann filed a defamation lawsuit against Punk and Colt Cabana for the comments that were made by both of them on Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast last November.

Amann claims in the lawsuit that his reputation has been tarnished due to the comments made on the podcast and he is seeking $1 million in compensatory damages and an unspecified amount in punitive damages.

Punk blasted Amann for his treatment of him during his time in the WWE and Amann said his claims are false while Cabana is included in the suit for helping "falsely depict" Amann in the interview.

Furthermore, Amann claims that Punk's comments were false, defamatory and insinuated a lack of "integrity ... and/or inability or lack of competence to perform his professional duties as a medical doctor."

Amann, who included a lengthy transcript of comments made on the podcast in the lawsuit, also included how many times it has been downloaded on YouTube (over 1 million), SoundCloud (over 10,000) and other platforms.

Punk claimed on the podcast that Amann misdiagnosed a growth on his back, dismissing it as a fatty deposit and that Punk then went to another doctor and discovered he had a staph infection. The former WWE Superstar also said that Amann disregarded his requests to remove it.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the lawsuit claims that Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, never came to Amann and reads, "Amann was not requested by Brooks to treat and/or excise a lump, let alone a purple, baseball-sized lump,"

Amann also fights Punk's claims that he prescribed antibiotics for a concussion and brushed off his head injury after the Royal Rumble in 2014, which proved to be Punk's last night with the company.

Amann said he evaluated Punk at ringside that night and told him to leave the area and even encouraged him to seek another evaluation after the event was over.

Amann will be represented by Phillip J. Zisook and Brian D. Saucier of Deutsch, Levy & Engel in Chicago, which is where Punk hails from.

Punk quit the WWE in January 2014 and is set to make his UFC debut later this year.
