Aaron Hernandez, the ex-New England Patriots star tight end who stands accused of orchestrating the murder of Odin Lloyd, and pulling the trigger in his shooting death, will be back in court again today at 9:00 a.m. Follow Day 12 of the court proceedings free here.
Day 11 involved a lot of discussion about Hernandez's sneakers. The former NFL star has a vast collection of Nike sneakers, and his defense attorneys attacked the quality of footage taken of him the night of Lloyd's murder, and that footage's reliability in helping identify shoe prints found at the scene of the shooting.
Furthermore, Hernandez's lawyers have called into question how evidence at the crime scene was collected, and pointed out there are numerous tracks of footprints found all over the industrial park where Lloyd was shot.
Another detail that emerged from testimony was from a state trooper named Zachary Johnson, who revealed that during an initial search of Hernandez's home he found a safe in his master bedroom that contained a digital scale with marijuana residue on it. They also found four pairs of Nike Air Jordans; the prints left at the murder site came from Jordans, but the actual pair that left the tracks wasn't among the four pairs.
This, like the missing murder weapon, could be a big hurdle for the prosecution.
