Lance Armstrong was due in court as a result of the car accident that he was involved in several weeks ago. The crash made headlines after Armstrong hit two cars and left the scene, which put him in line to take the rap for hit and run charges.

The accident occurred in Aspen, and Armstrong entered his plea by mail to a lesser charge of careless driving, according to TMZ. Armstrong pled guilty, and he also paid a fine in the amount of $238.50, which also covered his court costs. By entering the guilty plea and paying the fines, Armstrong will avoid serving any jail time.

The guilty plea also means that the police are dropping a speeding charge and another charge about failing to report an accident.

When the crash first occurred, Armstrong had his girlfriend, Anna Hansen, take the blame for the accident. She claimed she had been driving because Armstrong had been intoxicated, but police ultimately uncovered the truth about the wreck.

In the wake of the guilty plea by Armstrong, the district attorney now has 90 days to file restitution charges on behalf of the owners of the two parked vehicles that Armstrong hit. Once those charges are filed, Armstrong will be forced to pay for the damage that he caused to the cars, and if he tries to avoid paying for the damage, he will be in even more trouble.
