Since 1996, the WWE has presented a pay-per-view -- and now WWE Network special -- in between the Royal Rumble in January and WrestleMania in either March or April of each year.
A lot of times, the WWE has used the February pay-per-view as a way to put major implications on WrestleMania, and that is also the case this year.
2015 Royal Rumble Match winner Roman Reigns will put his WrestleMania 31 WWE World Heavyweight Championship shot on the line against Daniel Bryan to determine who will face Brock Lesnar on March 29 at Levi's Stadium in California.
With February pay-per-views having huge implications on WrestleMania in the past, starting with the very first event, In Your House 6, when Shawn Michaels put his title shot on the line against Owen Hart, we take a look at the five best February events in WWE history.
5) Elimination Chamber 2011: On Feb. 20, 2011 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., the WWE presented what is arguably the best pay-per-view to fall under the Elimination Chamber banner.
This event saw two chamber matches and set up the landscape for WrestleMania XVII. In the first one, Edge retained the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Rey Mysterio, Kane, Drew McIntyre, The Big Show and Wade Barrett in a match that lasted over a half hour.
In the main event, John Cena overcame CM Punk, John Morrison, Sheamus, Randy Orton and R-Truth to become the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship at the "Show of Shows."
4) No Way Out 2004: While the undercard of this event wasn't spectacular, Eddie Guerrero won the WWE Championship in the main event, marking one of the most memorable moments in WWE history.
This event took place on Feb. 15, 2014 at the Cow Palace in California.
The main event saw Guerrero notch his first and only WWE Championship when he overcame Brock Lesnar in the main event to win the gold.
Elsewhere on the card, Kurt Angle defeated Big Show and John Cena in a Triple Threat Match to become the No. 1 contender to Guerrero's gold at WrestleMania XX.
3) No Way Out 2000: This event, which took place live from the Hartford Civic Center in Connecticut on Feb. 27, 2000, was known for two big matches in the main event.
The first saw The Big Show defeat The Rock to become No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 2000 after Vince McMahon cost The Rock the match. This would later be changed on WWE programming on the rocky road to WrestleMania 2000.
The main event was a brutal Hell in a Cell match that saw Triple H retire the Cactus Jack persona of Mick Foley by defeating him to retain the WWE Championship.
A memorable spot in the match saw Triple H backdrop Foley through the cell roof and the canvas on the mat below.
Other solid matches saw Kurt Angle defeat Chris Jericho to win the Intercontinental Championship, The Dudley Boys overcome the New Age Outlaws to retain the Tag Team Championships and Edge and Christian outlast The Hardy Boys in tag action.
2) St. Valentine's Day Massacre 1999: This event took place live on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1999, from the Pyramid in Memphis, and was a very successful pay-per-view for the WWE.
In the main event, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin defeated Vince McMahon in a brutal war inside of a Steel Cage after The Big Show made his debut, but accidentally helped Austin win the bout to punch his ticket to a title match at WrestleMania XV.
Elsewhere, The Rock and Mankind continued their hellacious feud of early 1999, this time battling to a draw in a Last Man Standing Match, therefore Mankind retained the WWE Championship.
Other big matches on the card saw Hardcore Holly win the Hardcore Championship from Al Snow after the two battled into the Mississippi River, Chyna and Kane top Triple H and X-Pac in a tag team match and Val Venis overcome Ken Shamrock to win the Intercontinental Championship.
1) No Way Out 2001: On Feb. 21, 2001, the WWE presented this event live from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Two huge matches headlined this show as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin battled Triple H in a barbaric Three Stages of Hell Match that was won by "The Game" and The Rock defeated Kurt Angle to capture the WWE Championship and set up WrestleMania X-7.
Other notable bouts saw The Dudley Boys defeat Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boys in a Triple Threat Tables Match for the WWE Tag Team Championships and Chris Jericho defeat Chris Benoit, X-Pac and Eddie Guerrero in a Fatal 4 Way Match for the Intercontinental Championship.
The WWE presents another big February pay-per-view live this Sunday from the FedEx Forum in Memphis when the inaugural Fastlane hits the airwaves and the road to WrestleMania 31 continues.
